After a career spanning more than two decades and marked by record setting victories, Nino Schurter has already cemented his place as the greatest mountain biker of all time. But he is not done yet. Today, Nino announces his plans to continue racing for a milestone 21st World Cup season in 2025.
The 2025 World Cup season will mark the 23rd year that he races in the colors of the same team. Since he began his racing career as a junior in 2003, Nino has been at the core of the successful SCOTT-SRAM MTB Racing Team.
Nino Schurter made the announcement as he closed the 2024 World Cup season with a strong 4th place in the World Cup Overall ranking, following the final round in Mont-Saint-Anne.
“I’m so happy and proud of everything I acchieved over these past years. So many great memories I will cherish for a lifetime. Without a doubt, the best part was all the people I met along the way. Friends, competitors, fans, all made it worth going the extra mile. Because of all of you, I’m not ready to hang up my bike just yet,” comments Nino Schurter.
2024 Season
Nino Schurter’s 2024 World Cup season has seen the highest of highs and the lowest of lows of his career so far.
Following a challenging start, battling illness at the opening World Cup races in Brazil, Nino had to prove to himself and the world that the fire was still alive. While the world asked if it was time to retire, Nino kept his eyes on the prize: a World Cup win and proof that he still has what it takes to compete at the highest level.
And it didn’t take long for the Greatest of All Time. With a superb 2nd place in the iconic race of Nove Mesto, he showed he is still capable of battling against the very best. Soon after in a thrilling race in Val di Sole, Nino Schurter claimed his 36th World Cup win, at 38 years of age, breaking his own record in the process.
It’s fair to say the big highlight of the season, Nino’s 5th participation at the Olympic Games, ended in a disappointment. For the first time in his career he did not achieve what he was aiming for. But there are some lessons learned in failure that can never be learned in success.
It was in facing these challenges that Nino reconnected with how much he still loves this sport and how greatly he desires to be racing for the win again.
Nino is committed to coming back strong for the 2025 World Cup season. With the 2024 experience in both winning and losing, the questions of the 2024 season left Nino with a clear answer: “I’m not done yet!”

Looking Ahead
The 2025 World Cup season is sure to be one to remember, as racing returns to Nino Schurter’s home venue Lenzerheide alongside a special home-side World Championships in Crans Montana. With two Swiss races on the calendar, the season brings another unique opportunity for Nino to race and represent in front of home crowds.
“I have so many great memories of my home race, from winning World Championships and beating records so I’m looking forward to going back and racing on home soil again in 2025 and creating more unforgettable memories together,” comments Nino Schurter.
