2022 was packed full of action and delivered a wide spread of emotions. Some were incredible, some we won’t miss.

Feldbach, Switzerland. The 2022 season was more hectic than ever before. After the COVID-19 crisis that slowed everything down, the team returned to racing at full speed, boosting up the World Cup season from 6 to 9 events spread all over the world. Some of the races went great, while some turned into pure disappointment. But that’s the nature of racing.
With a thrilling finale from N1NO Schurter, the team proudly looks back on another outstanding season – the 21st in the history of the team!

Time to reflect what made the team suffer and celebrate during this year packed full of action. Tune in for the 2022 Season Recap Edit, live from today Monday December 12 at 4PM CET.

Fair to say- the 2022 Cape Epic was a disaster

We never lose! We either win or we learn!

Our team slogan was also our guideline through the 2022 season. The first highlight of the year turned into a nightmare. At the Cape Epic, where Nino and Lars went to the starting line to defend their title, just about everything went wrong that could go wrong. Too many mechanicals and crashes sidelined the Swiss duo and left us walking away limping.
Even if the frustration was huge, we had to rely on our qualities of looking forward to make it better next time.
Racing is a complex game. Often we learn more losing than winning.

“With a team of several athletes, a year never goes perfectly throughout the season. That’s the nature of racing. But looking back to 2022, this year will always be remembered as one of my most exciting ones.” Thomas Frischknecht Team Director SCOTT-SRAM MTB Racing
In Brazil and off to a great start in the World Cup season
With the World Cup start in Brazil, N1NO turned it all around by winning his 33rd World Cup victory. Waiting 3 years for this 33rd win, equalizing the record of Julien Absalon, made this one a very special moment with extraordinary emotions. As Kate also showed progress at the World Cup start, we knew we are back in the game.
Lars Forster starting the season with a win in Italy
Lars Forster had to undergo a lot of ups and downs this season. Being injured for a good part of the season, he was not able to unfold his talent. Even if his World Cup and Championship races did not satisfy, he started the season strong and finished strong, delivering 4 victories in total.
Andri Frischknecht racing to 8th place at the World Cup in Nove Mesto
Andri Frischknecht sure developed quite a bit in 2022. Not only did he show strong races in the World Cup, but also raced at a consistently high level throughout the whole season. No one else in the team was at the starting line so often in 2022. The hard work paid off as he moves to the Top 20 in the World Ranking.
Kate moving in the right direction – step by step
2022 was a very important year for Kate Courtney. She wanted to leave the not-so-satisfying years of 2020 and 2021 behind her and reboot. Getting back to where she was in 2019 is not that easy. But with the talent she has and the great attitude she shows means it’s only a matter of time. She showed she’s on track to making her way back – step by step.
Save the best for the end: N1NO celebrating his 10th World Champion title
Hollywood could not have done it better! After a severe crash in Snowshoe a month prior to Worlds that almost finished N1NO’s season early, the champ once more made an incredible turn around, making history by winning the double. Not only did he secure his 8th World Cup Champion title, more importantly he added a 10th World Champion title to his unmatched career. “La Decimal” – winning 10 major titles – is something very few athletes or teams accomplish in the world of international sports. Valentino Rossi never made it and got stuck with 9 World Championship titles. In the soccer Champions League, it took Real Madrid 13 years to complete “La Decimal” from the 9th to the 10th title. Winning 10 World Champion titles within 13 years is a record by N1NO that most likely will never be topped. And with N1NO, you never know what’s next. Like he did this year – save the best to the end. It makes us wonder what’s yet to come….
What do I take with me from the 2022 season? It’s great that I can still surprise myself after all these years racing at the highest level. The year was full of great emotions, yet also some setbacks. That’s racing, and that’s why I still love what I’m doing. Nino Schurter 8x World Cup Champion 10x World Champion SCOTT-SRAM MTB Racing
